TAILORING

While in graduate school, Vanessa focused on men's tailoring under her academic advisor, Laura Robinson. She also took basic couture and tailoring classes in her undergraduate program.

NORFOLK JACKET AND PLUS FOURS STUDIO PROJECT - FALL 2025

SWEENEY TODD: 1830s INSPIRED FROCK COAT - AUTUMN 2024

For the Penn State autumn musical Sweeney Todd, Vanessa had the opportunity to make an 1830s-inspired frock coat and vest for the character of Pirelli as well as a vest for the role of Anthony. Pattern and construction by Vanessa Buck. Costume design by Hilary Hayes. Production photos by William Wellman.

TAILORING CLASS: 1940s SUIT - AUTUMN 2023

Laura Robinson, Vanessa's primary academic advisor, is known for her tailoring. One of the courses Penn State graduate students take is a tailoring class, in which students make a custom three-piece suit from scratch for a fit model. This is the first suit Vanessa patterned and constructed -- hopefully one of many.
